News First part of EXPORT Expedition sucessfully completed

The first two EXperiments with the Portabel Observatory for aeRosol Transport (EXPORT) have been carried out from January to March 2025 in the tropical Atlantic. Our master students Simon and Arne from the ALIC2E team participated in the two exciting cruises aboard the RV METEOR, a 98-meter-long German research vessel. The first cruise led from Brazil to the Cape Verde Islands and the second one took place in the dynamic Saharan dust region to the East of the Cape Verde archipelago. They used instruments for winds, aerosol particles, and radiation to gain valuable measurements for investigating how Sahara dust aerosol is transported over the Atlantic. In the EXPORT expedition blog, they describe their fascinating scientific work as well as their unique experiences of daily life on board.
